AA vs Cover-More Travel Insurance

AA Travel Insurance and Cover-More have the same insurer and administrator, but they are sold under separate policy wordings with different plans and limits. This page puts the two wordings side by side so you can see where they differ and which page to read.

We do not pick a winner or say which suits you — that depends on your trip, travellers, health and activities. Nothing here is a recommendation.

If you hold an older AA policy

AA changed insurer on 1 December 2025. AA's policy wording page says the current wording applies if your policy number starts with 8; older policies were issued by AWP Services New Zealand Limited trading as Allianz Partners and underwritten by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, Limited, under a different wording that is still linked on that page.Source: aa.co.nz policy wording page

How to compare the two for your trip

  1. Match plan levels first: AA's Essentials/Comprehensive and Cover-More's Basic/Comprehensive/Comprehensive+ are not direct equivalents.
  2. Quote both with the same travellers, dates, destination, excess and cancellation amount.
  3. Check each existing medical condition against both wordings' automatically-included lists, and complete the health assessment where needed.
  4. Add the options you need (snow, cruise, adventure, larger motorcycles) to both quotes before comparing.
  5. Read the general exclusions in each wording.

Which one is cheaper?

We do not publish price comparisons. Premiums depend on the travellers, trip, plan, excess, cancellation amount and options you choose, so compare quotes for the same cover on the day you buy.
